16th Gathering of Weather Enthusiasts and Lightning Observers in Saaremaa

The 16th gathering of weather enthusiasts and lightning observers took place on July 19–20, 2025, in Püha village, Saaremaa. Participants were hosted by Laagrikeskus, which provided excellent conditions for discussions, presentations, and practical activities.

An important part of the gathering was also the voting for the weather event of the year, where the most significant and memorable weather phenomena of the 2024/2025 season were recalled and selected. The event that received the most votes – a total of 173 – was named “The warmest September and autumn on record in 2024” .

Also presenting at the gathering were members of our Climate Research Centre:

  • Application of the DDD Model on a Small Urban River in Tallinn, Tiia Pedusaar (UT)
  • On the Acceleration of Anthropogenic Climate Change, Velle Toll (UT)
  • On Radars in Estonia and the Use of Radar Data, Jorma Rahu (KAUR, UT)
